As a licensed clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience, Dr. Harriman specializes in psychotherapy for children/adolescents & their families. Her practice also includes psychotherapy for adults. She maintains a private practice in Sherman Oaks. Dr. Harriman's completed undergraduate study at Skidmore College and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She spent a year volunteering as a counselor in a homeless & domestic violence shelter in South Australia. Following her experiences abroad, Dr. Harriman earned her Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology with a specialization in Child & Family Therapy.
Dr. Harriman's graduate training included preschool consultation for a Head Start classroom, home- and school-based treatment of families affected by grief and illness, psychotherapy with adults residing in a dual diagnosis (i.e., recovering adults struggling with mental health issues) treatment facility, and a full-time American Psychological Association accredited internship in an outpatient mental health clinic for children and families. Concurrently, Dr. Harriman worked as a residential counselor in CA Level 14 group homes for latency aged children unable to succeed in their home environments. Dr. Harriman advanced her training with a two-year postdoctoral fellowship to specialize in the treatment of child trauma including sexual abuse, domestic violence, physical abuse and community violence.
For the past nine years, Dr. Harriman was employed by Providence Saint John's Child and Family Development Center initially as a clinician on the Child Abuse Prevention, Intervention and Treatment Team and more recently, as Program Coordinator for the Center's Child Abuse and Treatment Programs. In addition to her clinical and administrative duties, Dr. Harriman supervised therapists, both licensed and unlicensed, primarily in the Center's APA-accredited internship for pre-doctoral psychology students.
Dr. Harriman has been in private practice since 2008. Her practice was formerly located in Santa Monica and Silverlake.
